My name is Matthew Campbell. I live in the desert of southern Arizona. Here, perhaps as in all deserts across the world, the things of Heaven and the things of Earth converge and intersect in striking ways, the strivings of one and the strivings of the other writ like the story of Jacob into the emptiness and beauty of the landscape, coursing silently within the same dark rivers…

My purpose behind creating this site remains somewhat of a mystery, even to me. I don’t pretend to be important, nor do I necessarily pretend what I have written here to be entirely original. My sole form of accreditation is that I am a fellow sojourner. And all I know is that a voice in the wilderness cries out and yearns to be heard, by however many or few.

And that heart’s blood is in these pages.

So do with them what you will.

  1. Thank you for following my art blog, Matthew. You have a beautiful blog and although I am sadly obtuse with poetry I think I am on the same page with you on many spiritual things as well as your appreciation of aesthetics. I look forward to following you.

    • Thank you! I chose to follow your blog for exactly the same reasons. I’ve been “off” for quite a while, but you’ve inspired me to keep posting and sharing my stuff. Here’s to some fruitful following and exchange of ideas! Stay in touch!
